I work as a scientific editor and writer. My work focuses on how society is shaped by science and technology and how, in turn, social factors affect technological and scientific developments.
For my PhD research on the history of media and technology at Maastricht University, I looked at how scientific practitioners collaborated in the past, and how we can trace their knowledge exchange with the help of digital tools today. From 2019 to 2020, I ran a web-based citizen science project, Worlds of Wonder, which aimed to make historical illustrations searchable and attracted some 2,300 contributors.
I hold a BA in Creative Writing and Journalism (Universität Hildesheim), an MScRes in Cultures of Arts, Science and Technology (Maastricht University), and defended my PhD dissertation (Maastricht University) in 2023.
I am also a freelance writer and in 2016 I received the Förderpreis Literatur of the city of Düsseldorf for my work as a writer.
